Graduation ceremony of the 1st batch of the multiskilled Rehabilitation Technicians and Social Workers from BSPH

The graduation ceremony of the first batch of the multiskilled Rehabilitation Technicians and social workers specialized in Community Based Rehabilitation programs took place on November 24,2023 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex under the Patronage of the Minister of Social Affairs, Mrs Pauline Irène NGUENE.

The Baptist School of Public Health of Mutengene is a registered institution of higher education under the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services, approved by the Ministry of Higher Education. The school provides training in inclusive Rehabilitation services specifically in occupational therapy, multiskilled Rehabilitation Technicians and social work with specialization in Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR). The BSPH collaborates with the some foreign institutions like the University of Zimbabwe.

The Minister of Social Affairs, Mrs Pauline Irène NGUENE in her speech highlighted the fact that Cameroon has more than 3 million persons living with disabilities. Persons with disabilities do not often benefit from rehabilitation services due to insufficient number of rehabilitation professionals in the country. Rehabilitating disabled persons needs psychosocial support, medical intervention, education and socio- professional integration. That is why she is happy that these professionals will fill the gaps when it comes to CBR and occupational therapy. While congratulating the graduates, she exhorted them to be worthy professionals ready to change the lives of persons with disabilities and put smiles on the faces of families of persons with disabilities.

The 14 Multiskilled Rehabilitation Technicians and 22 Social workers received their end of course certificates from the Minister of Social Affairs. Prizes were equally awarded to outstanding and meritorious graduates.
