UNFPA Country Representative bids farewell to the MINAS boss

The Minister of Social Affairs, Mrs Pauline Irene Nguene granted a farewell audience this Wednesday May 11, 2022 to

the outgoing Country Representative of UNFPA  Mrs Siti Batoul Oussein who is going on retirement. The two of them reviewed the great and satisfactory collaboration they have had this far. Mrs Siti Batoul Oussein  thanked the Minister for the excellent collaboration they have had during her term of office in Cameroon  and promised continuity of this collaboration with the UNFPA even after her departure. They discussed on some of the areas of fruitful collaboration and projects carried out as well as projects envisaged in the near future. They equally talked about signing a partnership agreement between MINAS and UNFPA as well as putting in place of a work plan for 2022-2026 of the UNFPA project. Updates on the upcoming capacity building workshop for focal points of MINAS-UNFPA and its level of preparedness were equally highlighted.

 

 The importance of data collection and statistics were highlighted. MINAS is working on harmonizing data collection tools and methods for Technical Operational Units and the ministry envisages to work with the National Institute of Statistics on this. The Minister assured Mrs Batoul that MINAS is on good footing on this aspect of statistics and data collection given that it is important to partners.

 

The Minister also gave her information on the communication session to launch the dissemination process of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of persons with Disabilities and perpectives.

 

The outgoing Country Representative insisted on the continuity of collaboration and progress with the aim of leaving no one behind in order to attain the Sustainable Development Goals.
