MINAS examines  the social compliance of projects in Cameroon

The National restitution workshop on the results of the interregional consultations on the development of monitoring and evaluation indicators for control of Social Compliance of Projects in Cameroon

took place on April 18, 2023 at the United Hotel International in Yaounde. Presided over by the Minister of Social Affairs Mrs Pauline Irène NGUENE, the objective of this workshop was to improve stakeholders knowledge on issues of social compliance of projects and to restitute the results of the interregional consultation workshops. Mr Kolokosso the consultant presented the results of the interregional workshops, the methodology, stages as well the developed indicators of Social Compliance of Projects. The Minister in her opening speech emphasized on the importance of considering the social dimension in the implementation of projects in order to protect socially vulnerable persons against negative social and human consequences. These social concerns go beyond relocation and compensation that is why it is important to have a real social support plan for impacted population so as to improve their living conditions. For better control of Social Compliance of Projects in Cameroon there is need for synergy of actions between different stakeholders and partners.

At the end of the workshop, it was recommended that there should be continuous development of different tools for control of Social Compliance of Projects in Cameroon.
