Extension of the Guide on Citizenship education.
The National Workshop to extend the guide on citizenship education
as part of the PNDP plan to develop pigmy populations took place in Kribi on January 20, 2022, at Hotel Framotel. This workshop is the 3rd activity planned for the 5th edition of the National Solidarity and Social Entrepreneurship Week (SESES) placed under the theme "prospective evaluation of local social action". The objective of this workshop is to extend the guide to all actors involved in the protection and promotion of the rights of Vulnerable Indigenous peoples within the framework of the program for development of Pigmy populations (PDPP) and the National Program for participatory Development (PNDP). The official opening ceremony of this workshop under the chairmanship of the Minister of Social Affairs Mrs Pauline Irene NGUENE was marked by the presentation of the terms of reference and objectives of the workshop by Mr Stephane Kapto of PNDP, a summary presentation of the guide on citizenship education by Mr Makita Georges Edmond of the Ministry of Social Affairs and a word from the representative of the National Coordinator of the National Program for Participatory Development (PNDP), Mr Kami Georges Edmond who highlighted the works that PNDP has been doing in terms of development and in favor of indigenous peoples in particular as well as collaboration efforts between PNDP and the Ministry of Social Affairs (MINAS).
The Minister of social Affairs in her opening speech talked of some difficulties faced by the Bakas, Bageylis, Bakolas and Bedzang populations in terms of access to citizenship and emphasized the importance of the guide on citizenship education to promote active participation in development, promote living together and inter-community dialogue . The afternoon session of this workshop continued with a detailed presentation of the Guide on citizenship education from the introduction to the different four chapters to the conclusion for better understanding of this guide by all actors working for the protection and promotion of the rights of vulnerable indigenous peoples.
